The Audi Q7 4M (2015–2019) is a masterpiece of German engineering, defined by its expansive horizontal lines and premium materials. However, many early models were shipped with basic single-color lighting or no ambient lighting at all, which can feel dated by modern standards.
By retrofitting a Dynamic Active Ambient Lighting system, you can transform your cabin with "chasing" light effects, multi-color transitions, and intelligent responses that fully modernize the interior experience.
Project Overview
This installation involves replacing or augmenting the factory light strips in the dashboard, four door panels, and the center console. Unlike the static factory LEDs, the Dynamic system uses addressable LEDs to create fluid motion and gradient effects.
Required Tools & Materials
Before you begin, ensure you have the following tools ready:
T20 & T25 Torx Screwdrivers: For removing door panels and interior trim.
Plastic Interior Pry Tools: Non-marring tools are essential to avoid scratching the leather or wood trim.
Wire Fishing Tape: To route cables through the tight rubber door bellows.
Adhesive Cloth Tape (Tesa Tape): To wrap wiring harnesses, ensuring a factory-look and a rattle-free finish.
10mm Socket: To disconnect the battery (recommended for safety).

Installation Steps
Final Calibration and Results
Once everything is plugged in, reconnect the battery and use the provided smartphone app or the MMI system (depending on your kit) to synchronize the colors.
The Result: Your Audi Q7 will now feature a "Welcome" sequence when you start the car, with lights chasing across the dash and doors. The interior transitions from a static cabin to a high-tech lounge, breathing new life into the 4M platform.
